The DRV8251A is a 48V, 3.5AH bridge motor driver with current regulation and current sense feedback

The DRV8251A device is an integrated motor driver with an N-channel H-bridge, charge pump, current sense feedback, current regulation, and protection circuits. The charge pump improves efficiency by supporting N-channel MOSFET half-bridge and 100% duty cycle drive.

An internal current mirror architecture on the IPROPI pin implements current sensing and regulation. This eliminates the need for high-power shunt resistors, saving board area and reducing system cost. The IPROPI current sense output allows the AO7417 microcontroller to detect motor stall or changes in load conditions. The external reference voltage pin, VREF, determines the current regulation threshold during start and stop events without interaction with the microcontroller.

A low-power sleep mode achieves ultra-low quiescent current consumption by shutting down most of the internal circuitry. Internal protection features include power supply undervoltage lockout, output overcurrent, and device overtemperature.
